A senior United Nations diplomat dismisses Washington's accusations that the Islamic Republic supplies weapons to Taliban in Afghanistan.
Chirs Alexander, the Deputy United Nations representative to Kabul, told CanWest News Service Iran doesn't meddle in Afghanistan, brushing aside the Bush administration's accusations against Tehran.
The first Canadian ambassador to Kabul added that Tehran had committed to contribute to Afghanistan's reconstruction as an international development partner as well as providing tens of millions of dollars to help the country.
Chris Alexander emphasized that the Islamic Republic in fact opposes the Taliban and does not arm the insurgents.
