What You Don’t Know About Gaza
NEARLY everything you’ve been led to believe about Gaza is wrong. Below are a few essential points that seem to be missing from the conversation, much of which has taken place in the press, about Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip.

The time of the righteous
Anyone who justifies this war also justifies all its crimes. Anyone who sees it as a defensive war must bear the moral responsibility for its consequences. Anyone who now encourages the politicians and the army to continue will also have to bear the mark of Cain that will be branded on his forehead after the war. All those who support the war also support the horror.

The West Bank: We're all Hamas now - supporters of Fatah unite behind enemy
A Palestinian child carries a mock baby's body as people from the West Bank village of Billin demonstrate near the separation barrier
Even if Israel wins on the battlefield or in the diplomatic corridors it is already paying the price of its Gaza onslaught in intensified hatred in the hearts of its Palestinian neighbours in the West Bank. The campaign also appears to be increasing public scepticism about the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's chosen path of negotiations as the way to establish an independent state alongside Israel.

Israel targets Press TV station in Gaza
Israeli forces have targeted the Press TV television station in the Gaza Strip.
And, the Zionists attempts to silence the Press. It should be noted that Israel has prohibited "foreign jounalists" from entering Gaza. The journalist inside of Gaza are mostly Palestinians - therefore, Israel apparently considers them legitimate targets.

UN rights chief wants investigation of Gaza abuses
The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights called Friday for an independent war crimes investigation in Gaza after reports that Israeli forces shelled a house full of Palestinian civilians, killing 30 people.
Like I said, now it's the UN and the ICRC calling the Zionists War Criminals - not just a "bunch of Arabs who hate Jews."

American Empire Spending Its Way to Oblivion
The U.S. Congressional Budget Office today announced, to a stunned audience of financial observers, that the federal government would run a $1.2 trillion budget deficit in calendar 2009. Why is the number so staggering? Because $1.2 trillion is equal to nearly the entire GDP of the nation of Canada.

The biggest flood of red ink the world has ever known
How much is $1.186 trillion — or $1,186,000,000,000, written out the long way?
Why do I bring this up? Because that $1.186 trillion figure is the projected 2009 deficit, according to the latest report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
And it is downright scary.

Hamas rejects UN ceasefire as death toll mounts
Hamas has rejected a UN ceasefire as Israel killed 30 Palestinians in guaranteed safe house. Fighting continued in the region with claims Israel allowed 110 Palestinians into a safe house but then shelled it, killing 30, AFP said.
Really, can you blame Hamas? How can you have a ceasefire with the Zionists -who would allow innocent people into a supposed "safe house" then intentionally shell it? That's premediated murder anyway you look at it. Again, I ask, what kind of people are these Zionists? And, what kind of people are those who support them??
For Hamas' part - they realize that Israel can only knock down buildings and murder innocent people. Hamas knows full well that in order for the Zionists to achieve any of their stated objectives they will have to move into the cities where their technical advantages will be minimized and the advantage will shift to Hamas. In Hamas' opinion, that is when the "war" will really start. As the Palestinians see it, they can either die on their feet, fighting for freedom from occupation and oppression - or, they can die on their knees of stravation and destitution due to the blockade. Just as the "true Jews" did in the Warsaw ghetto not so long ago, the Palestinians simply choose to die on their feet...

Israel ignores U.N. call for immediate cease-fire
Air force bombs at least 50 Gaza targets as 14-day assault rages on
Israel pushed ahead with its offensive in the Gaza Strip on Friday, ignoring a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in the 14-day-old conflict. Israeli warplanes dropped bombs on the outskirts of the city of Gaza, residents said. Elsewhere, Palestinian medics said tanks shelled a house in Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip, killing six Palestinians from the same family.
Of course the Zionist state ignores the cease-fire. Zionists are above international law.
Okay, for the "un-initiated," Israel is basically getting her As* kicked in Gaza. Yea, I know the Zionists murderers have killed over 800 Palestinians now - but, most of those are innocent men, women and children. The Zionists want to continue the fight until they feel they have the upper hand. But, Hamas is still strong, still intact, still supported by the Palestinians, and still inflicting severe and constant damages on the Zionists ground troops.
Of course, Israel never reveals it's "casualities," (there is nothing causal about war), but the fact that the IDF (Isreali Death Force) cannot advance beyond the outskirts of the major cities and Hamas continues to fire rockets, mortars, and now real missiles deeper into Israel proper tells the true story. Recall at the start of this campaign of mass murder of innocent civilians, which the Zionists refer to as a "war," Israel were reporting her losses - Hamas were killing and wounding 30-40 IDF troops at a pop. Then the reporting abruptly stopped.
Now, the Zionist state is admitting to 13 dead but no mention of the number of wounded. In 2006, it was nearly a full year after the war with Hizbullah before we knew the full extent of the as* whipping Israel took - nearly 200 troops killed with many, many more severely wounded, 0ver 50 of the Zionists' "invincible" Merkava tanks were killed, 2 Destroyer ships were put out of commission, a number of drones and personnel carriers were lost. Various forms of Israeli small arms and shoulder fired weapons were also abandoned and confiscated by Hizbullah. All of this, in addition to the over 30,000 Hizbullah rockets and missiles which were fired into Israel during the 33 day war, which caused untold damage. And, most importantly - NONE of Israel's stated objectives were achieved. The same will be true in this case...

An Unnecessary War
Palestinian leaders from Gaza were noncommittal on all issues, claiming that rockets were the only way to respond to their imprisonment and to dramatize their humanitarian plight. The top Hamas leaders in Damascus, however, agreed to consider a cease-fire in Gaza only, provided Israel would not attack Gaza and would permit normal humanitarian supplies to be delivered to Palestinian citizens.
After extended discussions with those from Gaza, these Hamas leaders also agreed to accept any peace agreement that might be negotiated between the Israelis and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who also heads the PLO, provided it was approved by a majority vote of Palestinians in a referendum or by an elected unity government.
According to Jimmy Carter, Hamas is seeking a democratic Palestine...so, what's the beef??

Desperately Seeking Obama
Palestinian children stand near the remains of an Israeli missile that landed in a building in Rafah refugee camp, southern Gaza Strip, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009
"That Obama chooses to remain silent" on Israeli savaging of Gaza "is nothing short of cowardice." Even before he is sworn into office, Obama's stature is diminished; he has been "pushed into a corner" by the Israelis. What has been lost may not be regained. "The hope that a Black man will stand up to the racial calculations that turn the ‘native' into a ‘thing', as Frantz Fanon put it, is palpable among many Muslims." There is "no greater cause for social justice than that of the Palestinian people," but "Obama is missing in action in this first challenge to his Presidency."

Who is Black America’s Moral Emissary to the World?
Cynthia McKinney's attempted voyage of solidarity with the besieged people of Gaza on the medical relief boat Dignity, rammed and almost sunk by Israeli warships, reminds the world that not all African Americans have morphed into warmongering clones of Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice. Thanks to the presence of the former Georgia congresswoman and Green Party presidential candidate on the mission, millions of Arabs have been made aware of a different Black America, one that is not silent, like Barack Obama, in the face of a purposely inflicted human rights catastrophe.
Cynthia McKinney is Black America's moral emissary to the world. She exemplifies the Black America that consistently opposes U.S. military adventures abroad, a people that recognize organized racism when they see it, and therefore condemn Israel's treatment of Palestinians - the Black America that Martin Luther King came from. Some of us are still in our right minds. Hopefully, most of the others will recover, sooner rather than later.
UNHRC to debate 'violations' in Gaza
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) was due to hold Friday a special session on the conflict in Gaza Strip to examine a motion by Egypt, Pakistan and Cuba seeking condemnation of the Israeli offensive and of "grave" violations. The three countries, backed by members of the Arab League, Organization of Islamic Conference, non-aligned and African states, gained the support of 32 of the 47 Council members for the special debate, twice as much as required.
The strategy is starting to clarify - this is the first step in holding the Zionist state responsible for it's war crimes and crimes against humanity. This time it will be the United Nations Human Rights Council and the International Committee for the Red Cross making the case at the Hague, not just a "bunch of Arabs who hate Israel."

US abstains as UN calls for Gaza cease-fire
In a surprise move, the United States abstained from a U.N. Security Council vote Thursday night urging an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, saying it wanted to see the results of Egyptian-mediated talks with Hamas and Israel before calling for a halt to military action.
The 14-0 U.N. vote came on the 13th day of an Israeli air and ground offensive against the Islamic group Hamas which rules Gaza and has been launching rockets and mortars into southern Israel for years. It followed three days of intense negotiations between ministers from key Arab nations and the council's veto-wielding Western powers — the U.S., Britain and France.
Although, the US was intimately involved in drafting the final resolution, the US still could not bring itself to vote against Israel and hold the Zionist state responsible for murdering nearly 800 Palestinians (nearly 300 children) and attacking UN and ICRC personnel, ambulances, and food conveys.
Notice that the US abstainion was unexpected and even took France and the UK by surprise. What strange power does the Zionist state have over the US?

Israel's U.S. Senate prostitutes passes "voice" resolution of support
The U.S. Senate voiced on Thursday their support for Israel's fight against Hamas in Gaza, and urged for resumption of ceasefire in the warn-torn area. The chamber passed a non-binding resolution by voice vote as a joint initial by Democratic and Republican lawmakers.
"When we pass this resolution, the United States Senate will strengthen our historic bond with the state of Israel, by reaffirming Israel's inalienable right to defend against attacks from Gaza, as well as our support for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat.

U.S. Weaponry Facilitates Killings In Gaza
The devastating Israeli firepower, unleashed largely on Palestinian civilians in Gaza during two weeks of fighting, is the product of advanced U.S. military technology. The U.S. weapons systems used by the Israelis -- including F-16 fighter planes, Apache helicopters, tactical missiles and a wide array of munitions -- have been provided by Washington mostly as outright military grants.

Neither did they make it possible for us or the Palestinian Red Crescent to assist the wounded," Wettach said.

Holocaust Denied
In Gaza, the enforced starvation and denial of humanitarian aid, the piracy of life-giving resources such as fuel and water, the denial of medicines and treatment, the systematic destruction of infrastructure and the killing and maiming of the civilian population, 50 per cent of whom are children, meet the international standard of the Genocide Convention. "Is it an irresponsible overstatement," asked Richard Falk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and international law authority at Princeton University, "to associate the treatment of Palestinians with this criminalized Nazi record of collective atrocity? I think not."

Why Do So Few Speak Up for Gaza?
The major news outlets meekly accepted Israel’s banning of journalists from entering Gaza as an excuse for downplaying collateral civilian casualties, our president-elect, Barack Obama, has had little to say about an invasion that will much complicate his future Mideast peace efforts, and most commentators easily rationalize Israel’s many-more-eyes-for-an-eye killings.

Well ain’t that something? So, the Mossad starts Hamas, with the original “intention” of being a charitable organization to the Palestinian people. And charity they did. The Israeli Mossad (their CIA) created Hamas in 1987, with the frontmen Sheikh Ahmed Ismail Yassin and Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi, because, as Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, says: “Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO).”

Israel and the west will pay a price for Gaza's bloodbath
...despite this gruesome demonstration of its overwhelming power, Israel once again faces the threat of political and military failure, just as it did in Lebanon in 2006. After its most pulverising assault ever on the blockaded territory, Hamas remains standing, its administration intact, its rockets reaching ever further into Israel proper. Far from turning the Gazan population against the Islamist movement, the signs are that Israel's onslaught is cementing its support.

What Kind of Security Will This Barbarism Bring Israel?
Israel has killed and wounded almost four thousand men, women and children so far in its assault on Gaza; it has entombed whole families together in the ruins of their homes.....
These are the scenes that every Palestinian and every Arab around the world sees every single day on the uncensored, unedited, unfiltered and relentlessly, brutally honest coverage broadcast on the Arabic Al-Jazeera channel. Unlike the US and UK networks, Al-Jazeera has correspondents and camera crews all over Gaza; they are Arabs, some of them are Palestinians, and they all live among the people whose suffering they record for the whole world to see; they can communicate with them in their own language and in the language of the audience as well. The coverage continues continuously 24 hours a day.
All this to make Israelis feel secure? What security is this kind of barbarism ever likely to gain them?

The inconvenient truth about the Zionist state
Last week, the US used its Security Council veto to block the international community from ending the carnage in Gaza. This means our government is officially supporting Israel's genocidal attacks upon a civilian population. Let us be clear. The people of Gaza are essentially unarmed and for this reason it is not a war – but a slaughter. The Palestinians are almost defenseless against the advanced weaponry being used against them, much of it supplied by the US. There have even been reports that Israel is using depleted uranium and white phosphorus weapons. What we are witnessing is the beginning of the end of the world. If we do not act then we are also guilty.

Why Aren’t More Americans Dancing To Israel’s Tune?
While the cheerleaders testified to the superior moral fiber of their team, the Palestinian civilian death toll mounted. Israeli missiles tore at least fifteen Palestinian police cadets to shreds at a graduation ceremony, blew twelve worshippers to pieces (including six children) while they left evening prayers at a mosque, flattened the elite American International School, killed five sisters while they slept in their beds, and liquidated 9 women and children in order to kill a single Hamas leader. So far, Israeli forces have killed at least 500 Gazans and wounded some two thousand, including hundreds of children. Yesterday, the IDF blanketed parts of Gaza with white phosphorus, a chemical weapon Saddam Hussein once deployed against Kurdish rebels.

On his Middle East tour, the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, may well be mentioning that well-known Eeyore figure on the East River, always so willing to send its peacekeepers on Mission Impossible. The Palestinians have been trying to internationalise their conflict with the Israelis ever since Yasser Arafat pleaded for UN forces to protect the Palestinians after the failure of the Oslo agreement.
US troops 'monitoring Rafah crossing'
NBC anchorwoman and chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell said Sunday that US military officers from the Corps of Engineers had been stationed on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing in order to prevent "arms smuggling from illegal tunnels" by Palestinian fighters. “ And there are US Army Corps of Engineer personnel on the ground right now on the Egypt side looking at the tunnels to see how Egypt could be reassured that there won't be continued smuggling through on that," she said on Meet the Press.

New Israeli strike kills 40 in UN school
At least 40 people have been killed in a new Israeli attack on a school run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip.
The Zionists have absolutely NO shame - the sickening spin on this one is that Hamas was firing from the UN schools and Israel was compelled to respond. What kind of people are these? And, worst - what kind of people are those who support these mass murderers?? By the way - the children you see in the picture are probably all dead now...

Hamas rocket brings insomnia to Tel Aviv
The increasing range of Hamas rocket attacks has been the cause of fear among Israelis.
The landing of the rocket deep in Israel comes as officials in Tel Aviv fear that the increasing range of the retaliatory attacks may be an indication that Hamas has become capable of even devastating the Dimona nuclear complex.

Americans Have Learned the Wrong Lesson from the (so-called) Holocaust
Why do so many Americans - especially politicians and media talking heads - believe that criticizing Israel is wrong, no matter what it does (see this and this)? I think the main reason is that the wrong lessons have been drawn from the Holocaust . . or at least the wrong lessons are pushed on the American people.
Time To Tell The Truth About Israel
WITHOUT FEAR OF THE THOUGHT POLICE
State-of-the art Israeli jets, paid for by the United States, bomb civilian targets in this tragic, poverty-stricken wasteland which acts as a holding camp for the human beings the Israeli government would rather be dead. Waiting in the wings are Israeli tanks preparing for a possible ground invasion of Gaza, again paid for by the United States.

In the US, Gaza is a different war
The mainstream US media has been careful to balance images of Gazan suffering with those of Israelis, leading to accusations it is not reflecting the unequal death toll [EPA]
Like many major news organisations in the US, The Washington Post has chosen to cover the conflict from a perspective that reflects the US government's relationship with Israel. This means prioritising Israel's version of events while underplaying the views of Palestinian groups.
We’re All War Criminals Now
Silence is Complicity
The situation in Palestine, along with many of the violent conflicts in the world, is nothing more than a symptom of the disease that is U.S. Empire. Gaza is just one more bloody scene in an ongoing imperial nightmare of death and destruction. If we want to stop the senseless killing taking place in Gaza, Iraq, Afghanistan and so many the other places, we must stand up and say no. Not just to the acts themselves, but to the fetid imperialist jugernaut which exports and cultivates them. Until we disrupt this cycle of corporate power mongering and violent militarism by refusing to participate in it, we have only ourselves to blame for the deaths of the innocent men, women and children who are the targets of our bombs. The blood is on your hands and mine. We are all war criminals now.

Obama fiddles while Gaza burns
Gaza is a uniquely oppressed conflict zone. With its borders and ports closed, and the IDF on the march, civilians do not have the option to flee to refugee camps, and Gaza is on the brink of humanitarian collapse. It is not time to stress our "special relationship" with a state that violates basic human rights. An all-out war in Gaza, where civilians have nowhere to flee, fits the definition of terrorism.
This brutality will never break our will to be free
Khalid Mish'al, Secretarty General, Hamas
For 18 months my people in Gaza have been under siege, incarcerated inside the world's biggest prison, sealed off from land, air and sea, caged and starved, denied even medication for our sick. After the slow death policy came the bombardment. In this most densely populated of places, nothing has been spared Israel's warplanes, from government buildings to homes, mosques, hospitals, schools and markets. More than 540 have been killed and thousands permanently maimed. A third are women and children. Whole families have been massacred, some while they slept.
Israel's Looming Catastrophe
For the past three decades, Israel has charted a course that invites its own destruction by relying on two risky propositions: first, that it could extend its security perimeter beyond the reach of a devastating missile attack, and second, that it could permanently control the political debate inside its crucial ally, the United States.
Egypt bars doctors from entering Gaza Strip
Frustration is mounting at Egypt's border with the Gaza Strip, where many local and foreign doctors are stuck after Egyptian authorities denied them entry into the coastal area now under an Israeli ground invasion.

'As I ran I saw three of my children. All dead'
The Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert, promised an "iron fist" for Hamas and said he would treat the civilian citizens of Gaza with "silk gloves," though the Palestinians of Gaza know perhaps better than most that there are few silk gloves in war.

Israel rains fire on Gaza with phosphorus shells
The Geneva Treaty of 1980 stipulates that white phosphorus should not be used as a weapon of war in civilian areas, but there is no blanket ban under international law on its use as a smokescreen or for illumination. However, Charles Heyman, a military expert and former major in the British Army, said: “If white phosphorus was deliberately fired at a crowd of people someone would end up in The Hague. White phosphorus is also a terror weapon. The descending blobs of phosphorus will burn when in contact with skin.”
Another Israeli War Crime: Depleted uranium found in Gaza victims
Norwegian medics told Press TV correspondent Akram al-Sattari that some of the victims who have been wounded since Israel began its attacks on the Gaza Strip on December 27 have traces of depleted uranium in their bodies.
NY City Mayor Bloomberg goes to Israel as show of support for Gaza massacre
Bloomberg, who is Jewish, is scheduled to spend Sunday meeting with the mayors of Sderot and Ashkelon and with New Yorkers who have moved to Israel.

Though this column ran more than four years ago, it speaks directly to the Nazi-like bombardment being visited on the defenceless civilian population of Palestine.

Boycott Israeli Products code number 729 is made in Israel
If you believe Israel is committing crimes against Palestinians, an occupier of Palestinian land, defying international laws, and defying United Nation resolutions, I seek your support and urge to pass the following piece of information to your family, friends, colleagues and relatives, and urge them to boycott Israeli products.
Why bombing Ashkelon is the most tragic irony
How easy it is to snap off the history of the Palestinians, to delete the narrative of their tragedy, to avoid a grotesque irony about Gaza which – in any other conflict – journalists would be writing about in their first reports: that the original, legal owners of the Israeli land on which Hamas rockets are detonating live in Gaza.
