"Bahrain dismissed on Sunday, June 8, criticism over naming a Jewish woman as its new ambassador to the United States, stressing that the envoy is as much Bahraini as any other citizen of the small Gulf kingdom. "Regardless of religion, first and foremost she is Bahraini, just as her father was, just as her grandfather was," Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed al-Khalifa told a press conference."Now, if only the ONLY democratic country in the Middle East, America's best friend Israel, could be so democratic.
