Muslim group fasts for homeless
About 200 people are expected to attend the event, which involves fasting from food, drink and negative thoughts and behavior from sunrise to sunset - as is observed during the religious month of Ramadan. An Eid Celebration Dinner will follow in the Memorial Hall Ballroom at 7 p.m. "I want the participants to feel like their fast did not go to waste, they helped out the community just as everyone else did," said Madiha Memon, a sophomore from Marietta and vice president of the organization. "I want them to have an idea of what Ramadan, Islam and Muslims are all about."
