Lest We Forget: British link to 'snuff' videos

We have been inundated lately with stories involving Catholic Priest and child abuse. If I remember correctly, the Catholic sexual abuse crisis began to be widely reported in the late 90's - early 2000s. However, there was another crisis that was taking place at that time that did not receive media attention - at least not in the US. Does anyone remember this story?:

"Rome, Italy -- Italian and Russian police, working together, broke up a ring of Jewish gangsters who had been involved in the manufacture of child rape and snuff pornography."

Thought not. I wonder why?
