Recreating the United States National Identity

William C. Carlotti - July 29, 2007

When we read articles like the one that informs us that the Iraqi oil workers have a union with 26,000 members you have to wonder what the reality of the situation was in Iraq during the time when Saddam Hussein was its President.

Iraq’s current quisling government is about to give away the store to the United States based international corporate oil and finance conglomerates. The oil union, that evidently became organized and operated during Hussein’s reign, is opposing the deal largely because of the secrecy surrounding it and the available information about the unfavorable returns proposed in the deal for the Iraqi people.

Like the man says, “the devil is in the details”.

In the meantime, the United States killing machine is continuing its slaughter of innocents by means of its “Operation Arrowhead” in Baquba, the capital city of Diyala province in southern Iraq. The slaughter is proceeding at such a pace that the city’s morgue refrigerators are unable to handle the flow of corpses.

The lack of electricity to operate the refrigerators has resulted in the stench of the rotting dead to be discernable for as far as fifty yards away. The result is that it has become necessary to create mass graves to dispose of the dead. The flow of corpses was compounded by the fact that the United States killing machine ordered the restricted movement of ambulances during “Arrowhead” slaughter operations then lifted the restrictions.

The resistance to the United States invasion and occupation of Iraq is going to continue as long as the occupation continues. If the nearly half century resistance to the Jewish Israeli occupation of the Palestine beyond the internationally recognized 1967 border between Palestine and Israel is any example of the endurance of the resistance, the slaughter of innocents by the United States killing machine will continue to produce an unwieldy number of corpses that can only be understood in the context of similar genocidal processes.

Fabricating the resistance as "Saudi", or "Sunni", or "Iranian", or "Shiite", or "Syrian", or "Iranian", or the amorphous "Al Qaeda", or whatever, ignores the fact that the United States killing machine has slaughtered nearly a million Iraqi civilians. It is their relatives, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, etc. that are the resistance to the continued killing and destruction of the Iraqi economy, society, culture, and people.

There are those that can peddle the various conspiracy theories promulgated by the Bush/Cheney neocon cabal-led United States government in the corporate media if they want. It only serves, however, to further expose the targeted victims of the grandiose killer schemes that are being promoted to expand the continued slaughter of innocents. In the context of the fact that this nation achieved its national identity through centuries of mass murder, the enslavement of millions, and the theft of a continent as it peddled the inalienable rights of man as its mantle, nothing has changed in this latest recreation of its identity.
